It's Just One Of Those Weird Memories

First of all, MLB.com chose to do a piece on Mikey P. for the Mets Fathers Day feature. YAY! I actually remember what I was doing during his Major League debut. I didn't watch the whole thing but I saw some of it. I went swimming and then I went out to dinner with my cousins. I find it kind of weird that I remember that day of all days. I guess Mikey P. was destined to be one of my favorites. It's weird that I remember my dad having gameday open on his phone and the Mets were clubbing the Marlins. On July 8, 2006, the Mets won 17-3 after losing the first game of a doubleheader. 2006 was a fun year for the Mets.

So, that was my ultra-weird tangent of the week. Now we will return to our regularly scheduled programing.

P.S.
I also remember it was really nice out and we were eating dinner outside.

It's An Open Wound That Can't Be Closed

Every Mets fan that was around to experience 2007 knows the feeling of a bullpen ruining a team. By the end of the season there was no lead that felt large enough for the bullpen to hold. In 2008 the bullpen seemed stellar and other times it was the 2007 nightmare coming back. But ever since 2007 or maybe the 2006 NLCS where the Mets gave up leads and watched the knee-buckling pitches from the Cardinals, no amount of insurance runs has been enough.

This year the Mets bullpen has shown they can get the toughest of all hitters. And then they play down to the worse teams. Their great play has lead Jerry Manual to have perhaps too much confidence in them and overwork them. Pedro Feliciano hasn't gotten through a recent outing without having a run charged to his stats. And Sean Green went through a rough stretch at the beginning of the season. Bobby Parnell isn't where he was a few weeks ago. And Frankie has finally cracked.

To be honest, I didn't feel like Frankie was going to hold the lead from the moment SNY came back from commercials and showed him standing on the mound. It's been a while since I have felt 100% confidence giving any lead to the bullpen.

Perhaps, in a while, when none of the members of the 2006-2008 bullpen remains, I will feel like the Mets have a chance to have a consistent bullpen. A consistently good bullpen.

These People Are Idiots

Over the past few days I have heard many different descriptions of Mike Pelfrey's play. But the one that got to be the most was when I head somebody on the radio ask which Mike Pelfrey would show up for his start in Baltimore. Last I checked Mike wasn't the next Ollie Perez. He has had one bad start that I can remember and it was in Pittsburgh and people should have gotten over that already. He has a 5-2 record but has gotten countless no-decisions from lack of offense or bullpen losses. His ERA is higher than it should be, again, due to the terrible outing against the Bucs. I think the Mets can be pretty confident they are going to get a good start when Mike Pelfrey is on the mound.

Another thing I glanced at before becoming completelty disgusted was about David. It said something about David being terrible and if it wasn't for him the Mets would have won last night. I understand that David went 0-for-5 last night, snapping his 11-game hitting streak. But does that mean people should forget he is hitting over .350 on the season.

Whoever is ripping David and Mike seriously need to get a life and really think about whether or not they are a Mets fan.

I'm In

Well, Jacoby made his first major league error tonight. But that's okay. I still love him.

And that's why I'm bringing up this:
Boston talk-radio host Danny Picard suggests, on his blog I’m Jusy Sayin, that, in the off season, the Red Sox should offer RHP Clay Buchholz, top prospect RHP Michael Bowden, OF Jacoby Ellsbury and SS Jed Lowrie to the Mets for SS Jose Reyes.

I would take that trade in a heartbeat. Reyes just hasn't been the same since 2006 (or 2007). If he could come back healthy and prove he can still play at some high level he could be trade-able. This would be a good trade. The Mets would have probably the best outfield in the majors with Jacoby in RF, Beltran in CF, and Fernando Martinez in LF. They would also get a good shortstop after trading away a good SS.

This would definitely be a trade I would want to make. I guess I wasn't the only one thinking the Mets could acquire Jacoby.

But I Have Good News

MARK BUEHRLE HIT A HOME RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

and Josh Beckett too!!!!!

A Reason To Bring This Up

Before today, the last time the Mets gave up 9 runs in an inning was the reason I wrote this:
Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo Poo
PEREZ!

Now, I'm not going to do that again because I feel strongly that there is something medically wrong with Johan, combined with the fact that Brian Stokes hadn't pitched in over a week. But I like that post and wanted to bring it up.

Enter Post Title Here

I did not think the Mets would win either of the last two games so I guess I should be satisfied with their results. It would've been a nice surprise to have won both but they didn't and the Mets have added another way to lose to their history's long list.

David Wright continues to burn the baseball and is hitting over .500 against lefties and he is hitting a solid .500 in June.

Brian Bruney is an idiot. If he's going to criticize K-Rod about his antics then maybe he should wait until he gets back to the big leagues. Bruney hasn't been able to stay healthy and has no right to call out Frankie. Also, Bruney is doesn't have nearly the same talent as K-Rod. He needs to get over himself.

And I found an article on SI that I really like. I root for all members of the Tribe and they do give me hope that I could be some really cool female baseball person. Being female and being Jewish. And I found that like right after I put up my Ian Kinsler hottie post. So, it was a cool coincidence.

HE'S BACK!

And just in time to play against Mike Jacobs! Joe Smith was activated off the 15-day DL today. The Indians sent down Tony Sipp. It feels like forever since he's been in the majors and I'm just glad I might be able to see some pics of him. I've just missed him so much.

WELCOME BACK JOE!!!!!

I Am NOT Looking Forward To Math Tomorrow

There's this girl who sits in front of me in math who pretends to be a baseball fan but she really is just a groupie. And she is at the Yankee game tonight. (Actually, she probably already left) But anyway, she thinks she knows so much about the Yankees and is really annoying about it. Whenever I try to talk real baseball with her she turns away and stops listening. And since the Yankees won tonight she's just going to be all "I was at the Yankee game last night. They won!" And then she'll look at me like I care and I'll go, "I know. The Mets didn't play last night." And she'll go, "But the Yankees won, and it was SOOOOO cool and SOOOO much fun!" After that she'll start trying to prove the Yankees are better than the Mets in every way possible. And when I want to tell her the Mets like lead the league in BA with RISP (I know, I can't believe it either) I'll have to try to ignore her and move on.

Ugh! She's already getting on my nerves!

So Cute!
