Going To Milwaukee

The Mets will head to the Brewers alone in 1st place in the NL East. It's a good thing the Mets are missing CC Sabathia because he has been unhittable (literally!) in the NL. But this will be a tough series for the Mets because one thing is that the Brewers beat up lefties and the Mets are pitching all 3 that they have. That's unfortunate for the Mets but hopefully the bats will help out and give the Mets some wins.

I was glad to see 'insurance runs' added to the Mets vocabulary today and that took some pressure off the bullpen. Speaking of the bullpen, they actually didn't allow a run today. YAY! Nick Evans hit his first ML homer today and it was followed by a homer by David. Sir Chokes A Lot homered again and the offense was strong.

TSN Top 10 Costumes

#6 is my favorite because it is Mike Jacobs. He is one of my favorite players because in 2005 with the Mets he played 1B and RF and was #27 and in softball that year I played 1B and RF and was #27.

Hey camera dude! He's married!

I Love Ian Kinsler

And according to this interview he grew up a Mets fan.

I just can't get over this picture!

I Didn't Even Think Of That

12:47- and i am writing this 2 years (to the day) after he was traded to the mets

If the Mets don't put Mike Nickeas on the 40-man roster he could be picked up in the Rule V draft. I don't really know who would want him but the Mets don't seem to know he exists so he will likely be unprotected.

This sucks.

Let's Recap

I left on Sunday morning and drove with my family to Cooperstown. I spent most of the day there and I can't really think of anything that was the "best" in the day. I had a lot of fun watching a game going on at Doubleday Field. I am not sure what kind of league it was but one team was the Nationals and the other was the Dogs. (They had a real name but I can't remember it right now). I was more interested in everything in the Hall this time than I was when I went in 2006. I took pics of some plaques that I was interested in and watched the Who's On First video that was playing. My dad ended up getting a jersey that had the name I Don't Know and #3 on it. I really liked looking at the "This Year In Baseball" exhibit and seeing the more modern stuff that I could actually remember happening. I got a sweatshirt that I have been waiting to get since I grew out of my old one. It was a really fun day for me.

After that I did nothing that would interest anybody reading this until I got to Boston on Wednesday.

In Boston the first thing we did was got to Faneuil Hall and eat lunch and watch a cool street performance with my brother and dad while my mom and sister were shopping. They missed out on the really fun show. I didn't do much else that day because we were all really tired from the driving in the morning. On Thursday I spent the morning with my brother and mom at the children's museum and was bored out of my mind. Then we met up with my sister and dad and went to the Science Museum and saw the awesome baseball exhibit that closes on Monday. They had half of a Shea Stadium home plate and Jonathan Papelbon's glove. There was also a part where you could guess who's glove it is and flip up the cover to see if you're right. I liked seeing Youk's glove and was kinda excited about Pedroia's but past that I was really impressed with the other gloves. I mean, there was no Jacoby! My brother tested his pitches and was clocked at 47 MPH. I am not impressed. As for the other parts of the museum, I did some stuff and nothing really happened. But, I found Waldo! On Friday I went on a Duck Tour and that was fun but I have been on them before so it was nothing special to me. Then we drove home yesterday afternoon and my sister made some jokes that would better not be shared.

It was a nice trip without the college tours but the baseabll stuff was really fun. I'm just glad I am finally home and can listen to Gary, Keith, and Ron.

Let's Go Mets!

B-But What Am I Gonna Do Now?

The Zephyrs' season has been cut short because of Gustav. Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for the safety of everybody in the New Orleans area but couldn't they move like 2 of the 3 games to other parks just to get them a couple more games? And now there will be no way to follow Mike Nickeas play. He didn't even get the play in the season finale.

His final numbers are .215 BA, 2 homers (one was a grand slam), and 17 RBI. He has never been known as a hitter and that was in limited playing time.

I guess I will have to follow my "boyfriend" later if he plays in the Arizona Fall League. At least that will give me something to do if the Mets are not playing.

Let's Go Mike!

HONEY, I'm HOOOOOOOOooooooommmmmme!

I'll have a post later about everything I did this week but right now I have something to say.

It looks really weird seeing Paul Lo Duca playing for the other team.

That's all.

This One Is For Grady

I like the number 30. And now Grady does too! Last year David joined the 30-30 club and this year Grady does. YAY!

Isn't he cute?

I Am On The Internet!

Mikey P. is my life! I really can't think of anything else to say right now because I am too happy to think.

Stay away from the DL Jacoby! But look on the bright side, he made the catch.

I went to Cooperstown and took a bunch of pics. I'll post them when I get home on Saturday or Sunday.

Good night all.

Save That Rant

Turns out Luis Castillo will not be activated today. Word is, he volunteered to wait a few days before coming back. It looks like he is taking one for the team and that has given me a reason to respect him more than I ever thought I would this morning.

Nice job being a team player Ugh! just kidding! I mean Luis. (for now)

Let's Go Mets!

P.S.- I am going on vacation tomorrow morning for 6 days doing various college hunting (for my sister) and going to Boston. I will have my laptop but I don't know how many times I will be able to be on my computer.
So, to last until my next post...

Let's Go Mets! (again!)

new nickname alert

luis castillo - ugh

that should fit him nicely

I Don't Think This Will Turn Out Well

Luis Castillo should not be allowed to come back. When he was here the Mets were not good. He is a bad influence on Jose Reyes and as Reyes goes, so do the Mets. I know he is going to be in the lineup tonight but if he is batting second I will not watch the game. Put the young guys that have done well in the 2 hole and put Luis in the 8 or 9 hole. Just keep him away from the top of the order.

Why would the Mets mess with something that is going well? I am beyond upset with the return of Castillo and he better not get more starts than tonight. I am going to say again that he is a bad influence on Jose Reyes. Last year Jose played badly late in the season when Castillo was with the Mets. And Jose got off to a bad start this year when Castillo was playing.

GET LUIS AWAY! NOW!

Friday, August 22, 2008

NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!

Alex Gordon is going on the DL!

I'll miss ya buddy.

David Wright Is Really Cute

And I loved his belly flop onto home plate last night. The baserunning didn't hurt the Mets so I can say I thought that was cute too.
Whoops! Wrong hottie...
That's the right one!

That Was The Best Game EVER!

11:53- I can't believe I forgot to write this but I felt all warm and fuzzy when the whole stadium was chanting PEL-FREY PEL-FREY! I love the fact that I was with Mike since the beginning.

I had about 14 different titles for this post last night and now I don't remember any of them. But I can honestly say that game was AH-MAZING!

Before I went into the stadium I made sure to take some pics of the outside of Shea because this was possibly (most likely) my last time going to Shea Stadium. I was there with my mom and my brother and my dad joined us from work (and college hunting with my sister). My brother kept score in the scorecard that was in the Mets Magazine. There were 3 performances before the game and one of them was somebody singing Stupid Cupid. I know that song from the Princess Diaries, which is one of my favorite movies. Jose Reyes got the most cheers during the lineups and Beltran got the least.

Mike Pelfrey had a quick first inning and I decided I would not miss one pitch he threw. The most fun part of the first inning was booing Chipper cough*Larry*cough Jones after his throwing error. When David and Daniel were at bat I couldn't help but stare. And the Mets scored 5 runs in the first inning and that was more runs than they had ever scored off of Jair Jurri-can't spell his last name. And Mike Pelfrey continued his good start with and RBI single. From there, I think everybody in the stadium knew it was going to be a good night.

The David Wright homer was a no-doubter and I stood up when it was barely out of the infield. Shea was ALIVE by that point and I didn't know how much more exciting it could get.

Before the 8th inning I went from the Mezzanine 2nd row right behing home plate to Field Level about 6 rows back behind the Mets dugout to sit with my cousins. That turned out to be the best time to get there because I got to see David and Daniel in the on deck circle and at bat. I also got a great view of Mike Pelfrey at his best. Mikey P. got an enormous standing ovation after the 8th inning and nobody thougt he would be coming in for the 9th. But when he did come out of the dugout for the ninth inning the place EXPLODED! And it was better when Larry took the called third strike for the first out.

After the last out I ran up close to the dugout just to see the look on Mike's face. And I can say that was the CUTEST I have ever seen him.

I have seen Mike pitch at least 3 times this year and he has won every time. He has also been dominent every time so I now believe I am his good luck charm.

Wow. What a game to be at. Mike Pelfrey's first career complete game and I was there.

Mikey P. For MVP!

maybe not but it rymes and i would like to think he has a chance.

Mikey P. In The House!

I have some of the photos I took last night and will have a HUGE post when I write one.

Mike Nickeas Stays In The Game With Just For Men

Well, I'm not sure about that and I would hope his brown hair is natural, but he played again last night and that is 6 in a row. Last night he went 0-for-3 with a sac fly and a strikeout. His sac fly started a 6 run second inning for the Zephyrs who finally won a game. His batting average is at .220. The only reason I can think of for all the playing time is that Casanova and/or Molina could be September call-ups and the Zephyrs want to see who they will have as a catcher.

Last night's Mets game looked like it would end the way many games in April, May, and June ended. The pitching does their job but the offense can't get anything done. To my surprise the Mets had a big eighth inning and the Braves bullpen looked like the Mets bullpen. It was a fun game to watch even though for most of the 8th inning I was singing I Kissed A Girl. That song is really strange.

Very impressive win for the Mets and I am going to the game tonight.
Let's Go Big Pelf!

Nothing Is Going Right Today

First the Mets lose and now this.

You will always be my Scruffy Haired Cutie.

I really don't want to find a different 2B for my SIKids Fantasy Baseball team

Feel Better Ian!

It Was A Good Road Trip

Duaner Sanchez can't get anybody out so I am going to assume the game is going to the Pirates. But this road trip has been very positive and the Mets will have a 2 game lead over the Phillies when it is over.

They have played well against the teams they should play well against instead of playing down to their level. They beat up the Nationals and for the most part the Pirates. The offense looks like they know what they are doing and Brian Schneider has gotten a new bat that doesn't have a hole in the middle of the barrel. They got hits when they needed them and gave the pitchers enough runs to work with.

The bullpen has looked good the entire trip, minus Kunz and everybody (except Joe) today, so that is a positive. The starting pitching shut down the opposition in every game this week. They look dominant and hopefully that can carry over to the stronger teams the Mets will play down the stretch.

Even thought the Mets are close to losing the last game, it was a better trip than anybody could have imagined.

Let's Go Mets!

I Never Thought I Would See That

Mike Nickeas played in his 4th consecutive game today. This afternoon my "boyfriend" went 0-for-4 and is now batting .224 but that is nothing. No, I don't mean the batting average. He started the game at catcher so that is normal, but he finished the game in right field. RIGHT FIELD! I really wish I could have seen that. The Zephyrs lost again and Mike is probably ready for a day off because he hasn't played this many games in a row in a long time, if ever.

JOHAN JOHAN JOHAN! Otherwise there really isn't a recap needed. Brian Schneider seemed really excited that is former teammate Luis Ayala is going to join the Mets. Brian hit another homer and had 3 of 4 RBI in the game.

I am currently rockin' my Padres hat. Yeah, won't say that again. But I am hoping the Padres can come back from giving up a first inning run. And the hat is backwards. BEAT THAT!

I'll stop now and leave you with the video to the song I have had stuck in my head all day.

Let's Go Mets!

Man Love

Scott Schoeneweis just gave Johan (sexy) Santana a hug during Johan's interview.

Gotta love it.

He's Got Big Shoes To Fill

David Wright isn't in the lineup for today's game against the Pirates. That means Daniel Murphy has to be extra hot today to fill that void for me.

The Mets have a 2 game lead over the Phillies and hopefully they can add to that today.

Mike Nickeas played for his third game in a row and went 1-for-4 with an RBI that gave the Zephyrs the lead that they didn't keep as they lost again. He's getting lots of playing time!

Let's Go Mets!

Mike Nickeas

The Zephyrs lost last night and my "boyfriend" went 1-for-3 with a double and strikeout. He is batting .230 in AAA.

Let's Go Mike!

Alex Gordon

I really couldn't think of anything to call this post and I am watching the Royals play the Yankees so that was the first thing that popped into my head.

Mike Pelfrey was dominant last night and he showed people that he can put previous starts behind him by bouncing back from his rough outing against the Marlins. I was getting really frustrated by people that were saying Mike was going back to who he was last year. If they would realize that Mike has been OWNED by the Marlins they would know why 2 of his recent starts have been tough. But last night he proved that he is the new and improved Mikey P.

It would have been nice if the Mets had more offense than 3 consecutive hits in the first inning. That was enough for Mike and the bullpen but most of the time it won't be. The Mets seem to look like they will beat up a pitcher in the first inning and get him out of the game early and then they let him get comfortable and can't hit him for the rest of the game. The Mets haven't proved they can beat up young inexperinced pitchers. But the bullpen stepped up, besides a homer surrendered by Duaner Sanchez, and Aaron Heilman held a 1 run lead in the ninth.

Nice win last night and tonight it is Pedro's turn to show what he's got.

Let's Go Mets!

Should Have Read The Article

I didn't notice this article was about basketball until after I looked at the score. I thought it was softball and that obviously confused the wazoo out of me. I mean, this score blows the Sox-Rangers game out of the water.

Now I have learned my lesson.

Can't Beat That

I'm sorry, but even though the Mets bullpen actually held a lead this post goes to the Red Sox and Rangers.

Final Score: 19-17, WTF!

I didn't watch any of this game but I wish I had. I mean, what can get more exciting than a bullpen blowing a 10 run lead, TWICE?! The Rangers could have won this game and I was kinda hoping they would but the Red Sox continued to score and that just made it more interesting. Oh yeah, Jonathan Papelbon got the save in this game. I do not know what more could have happened to make this the best game of the year. I guess if it went to extra inning we would have seen Ian Kinsler pitching against Jacoby Ellsbury (in my dreams!) and everything would have ended at some point or another. But this game has got to be a practical joke. I mean, it was all planned, right?

Let's Go Wally!
...and Mr. Met too!

Possibly My Favorite Song

I don't know why but I really like it. But I am truly obsessed with the Backstreet Boys. I 65 BSB songs on my iPod!

Because I Have To

If you really have something against the Yankees then leave now.

But I have to do this for my brother:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I Can't Grow A Moustache

And neither can Joe Jonas:

But that is okay with me. Even though I prefer Nick.

Even though the Mets sucked yesterday Mike Nickeas had a nice game. My "boyfriend" had an rbi double and scored the go-ahead (game winning) run. He has been getting more playing time and hopefully he can continue to get hits.

All the colored words in this part are a different link 'cuz yesterday I was going through archives of the blog and found cool stuff.

I Need To Laugh

Does anybody know a good joke? Cuz with the way the Mets lost today I need something to cheer me up.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Mike Nickeas

I am just trying to cheer myself up because Mike Pelfrey is getting bombed.

I Less Than 3 Daniel Murphy

If you don't understand the title this should help, I <3 Daniel Murphy

He has been added to my long list of players that I consider hot. He hit his first major league home run last night and Mike Jacobs didn't throw the ball into the stands. I guess he likes Daniel more than he likes Brian Stokes.

Brian Stokes got a hit in his first Major League at bat and the ball was going to go back to the Mets' dugout so Brian could keep it. When Mike Jacobs attempted to throw the ball to the dugout it went over the dugout and into the stands. Carlos Delgado gave a different baseball to the kid with the Brian Stokes baseball and everything worked out in the end.

But the Mets got good pitching from Brian and he kept them in the game. The bullpen held the lead for the second night in a row. Even though Smitty was charged with 2 runs Feliciano and Sanchez and Heilman got the outs that were needed.

The Marlins have absolutly OWNED Mike Pelfrey so we will just see what happens today and the Mets win the series no matter what.

Let's Go Mets!

Notes:

*Mike Nickeas went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts last night and he is batting .217 in AAA. He did call a good game behind the plate as the Zephyrs won the game 3-2.

*Xavier Nady hit another homer for the Yankees even though they lost as the bullpen imploded in the 8th inning. There is a good article about X-man here.
And I will continue to put Xavier links in yellow even though he is no longer a Pirate.

*I like this story about Eddie Kunz.

Saturday, August 9, 2008

OMG! OMG! OMG!

I never expected Mike Nickeas to be mentioned in pregame notes but I guess I should have:

Brian Stokes, tonight’s starter, noted that former Mets Rule 5 pick Steve Register, who was returned to the Rockies at the end of spring training, has been promoted to the big leagues with Colorado. During a recent New Orleans-Colorado Springs series, Stokes and catcher Mike Nickeas passed up a chance to watch “Dark Knight” with Zephyrs teammates in order to dine with Register.

That totally just made my day.

Let's Go Mets!

Ha ha. That's funny.

Look at the title of this picture
I love ya Joe!

I have no faith in the Mets' bullpen

During the last 2 innings of the Mets game tonight I was sure the bullpen was going to blow the game. I have decided not to be optimistic with the Mets so I can never be let down. I don't know how long it will last but hopefully it won't have to last long. I want the Mets to get a lead and be abke to feel comfortable with the game staying in the Mets' favor. I just don't know how I can feel that way right now.

I have 2 links for whoever is reading this:

1) This is an article I found about my "boyfriend". It is from right before he was hit by the pitch and since then he has missed a whole lotta time. Hopefully he will be playing more soon. I mean, as much as a AAA third-string catcher is supposed to play.

2) This link is from mets.com about Joe Smith and Brett Favre. I really, honestly, absolutely think Smitty is the most adorable person in the world. If I had to choose one person in the Mets bullpen that I feel most comfortable with it would be Joe. And it is not just because he looks like this.

Let's Go Mets!

Wow. David. Wow.

Let me just say that I didn't know David could be that cute.

David Wants You To Know...

that he really doesn't need a day off. Just put him in there and he will get you a win. I know Heilman gets the win on the record but I would give it to David or Johan. If the bullpen hadn't blown all of the games they have for Johan he would be 15-7. But the big thing here is that the Mets won the game. I know they have the biggest bullpen issues anybody could imagine but I want to enjoy the win that the Mets finally got. I really thought the Mets would lose the game and when my mom came in and tried to be optimistic I told her the Mets were going to lose. That shows how much faith I have in the Mets these days. Overall, I am glad the Mets got a win no matter how it happened and who imploded.

Also, I am watching Jerry's post game press conference and it looks like he has new/different glasses.

Let's Go Mets!

Just So You Know...

I plan on marrying Joe Smith. Have I mentioned he is the cutest person in the world?

USA USA?

I am not so sure anymore...

Brought To You By The # 4

Last night the Mets and Zephyrs both lost by the score of 4-2. Mike Nickeas returned after missing 4 games since being hit by a pitch on Friday and coming out of the game in the 4th inning, and went 0-for-4. David Wright is slumping and his current batting average is only .284. He stole his 14 base this season during last night's game.

Oh yeah, and Brett Favre is a Jet. But I will miss Chad.

The Mets have an early game today and David has talked himself into the lineup even though he really needs a day off. He just looks really tired mentally and physically.

And this is brought to you by the # 34:

Ya Know That Weird Kissy Sound?...

Well, I hate when I am in the same room with somebody doing that at somebody on tv or in a magazine or picture... that is basically saying I woulda killed myself in the last segment of the Wheelhouse. I DIDN'T STOP doing that at Mikey P. I know, I know, too much information.

Just had to point out that Mikey P. was on SNY.

And Branden Tierney (spelling?) just cast a vote for Mikey P. as comeback player of the year!

Mikey P. for the double take over = NL Cy Young 2008 + Comeback Player of the Year

We Could Make This Work

MIKE PELFREY FOR CY YOUNG NL 2008!

I know that sounds absurd to you right now but I wish there was a way it could happen. So... just spread the word about Mikey P. and maybe something will happen!

Now I have to think of a cool campaign slogan...

got any ideas?

Question for Billy

What were you thinking when you bought that shirt???????!!!!!!!!!

Nanny McPhee!

That is all I could think of 'cuz I am watching Disney channel and there was an ad saying it is on this friday at 8. So watch! It's a good movie.

But I am really worried about the Mets. Now that Billy Wagner is on the DL Aaron Heilman is going to get the save opportunities. This is not a good thing 'cuz he has trouble getting outs in the 6th inning. I would feel more comfortable having Kunz get the shot as closer because he has been a closer before, even if it hasn't been in the Major Leagues. The Mets need to make a move and soon. I would be thrilled if they got Livan Hernandez. Maybe I could remember some of the Livan puns I thought of in the off-season! But otherwise, the Mets cannot wait around and watch other teams pick up players that would help them down the stretch. If they want to be in any kind of race they have to make a change to this team.

Let's see if the Mets can get off their bum and do something tonight.
I am a little worried about the Padres considering what happened last time.

Let's Go Mets!

P.S.
I will most likely miss the game from 8-9 and you know why if you have been paying any attention to the tv shows that people around my age are obsessing over.

So, look out for Mikey P. for me!

It's A Thief In The Night

Yeah, I'm listening to Disturbia again...

Xavier won Player of the Week! YAY! So, something came out of a week when the Mets could not have played worse. I really don't have anything to say except that I bored out of my mind. I guess I will watch that scruffy haired cutie (Ian Kinsler) tonight. Or maybe the teen choice awards.

But tomorrow I have a major dilema! Mikey P. is pitching but one of my new favorite shows is on so I guess I will think about how to sort that out while I deal with my boredom.

This is really depressing

Jerry Manuel was supposed to fix the Mets woes. I understand that he cannot prevent the injuries or the men left on base but he needs to do something. Whatever happened to his idea that he is not afraid to confront a guy when he needs to? He better be true to his word and do that. Right now I really don't want to go into all of the Mets' problems but right now the Mets are coming close to making me go back to the Backstreet Boys for another week.

Maybe I will do some summer reading now.

Let's Go Mets!
...Yes, that is necessary

This Angers Me

I enjoy reading the Goodbye, Hello articles on MLB.com. So when I got home from camp that is the first thing that I read. Here is what I found:

  1. July honor roll: Others enjoying notable Julys included Cincinnati's Adam Dunn, New York's Carlos Delgado, New York's Alex Rodriguez, Philadelphia's Ryan Howard, Milwaukee's J.J. Hardy, Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, Colorado's Matt Holliday, Baltimore's Aubrey Huff, Pittsburgh's Adam LaRoche, St. Louis' Rick Ankiel, Los Angeles' Torii Hunter, Houston's Carlos Lee, Chicago's Jermaine Dye, Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez and Aaron Cook, Milwaukee's CC Sabathia, Arizona's Randy Johnson, New York's Mike PelPHrey, Chicago's Ryan Dempster, Minnesota's Joe Nathan, San Diego's Trevor Hoffman and Frankie Rodriguez of the Angels.
This is supposed to be a professionally done fun feature on the MLB website. And yet, they have simple spelling errors. They couldn't bother to spell Mike PelFrey correctly!

Come on MLB! You can do better!

Let's Go Mets!
