This win goes to Howie Rose. He was calling the game with Tim Mccarver on FOX and he made the game watchable. Or at least, "listenable". It was nice having somebody who knows at least one of the teams. He made the game exciting when it was supposed to be exciting and interesting when it wasn't as exciting.
And then there was David Wright. He hadn't hit two home runs in a game since 2008. Perhaps it was the hitter friendly dimensions and wind of Citizen's Bank Park or maybe it was simply David finally being David. He hasn't had a big game for a long time. But I would consider going 3-for-5 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI a big game. He continues to hit for average and yes, he showed us he still can hit the ball out of the park.
As for Mike Pelfrey, he fit in with the rest of the Mets rotation this time around. In a short start he gave up 8 runs. The previous time through the rotation just about everybody was brilliant. This time, everybody has been flat-out terrible. It's as if they are taking on the persona of the top starter, which at this time, is Mike Pelfrey. One good start, one bad start is pretty much how he has gone all season.
Tomorrow will be a doubleheader with the first game at 1:05 on SNY and the second game as ESPN's Sunday Night baseball at 8:05. Four games, four networks weekend for the Mets.
Let's Go Mets!
