"You Know I Wish That I Had Jessie's Girl!"

Okay, well, not really...

Today I wanted the Mets to win and I believed they could win and I was very happy with the performance from Mike Pelfrey.  I was hoping the Mets would score some runs while he was still in the game but that didn't happen.  For some reason it has been challenging for the Mets to score runs in starts made by Mikey P.  But that didn't make a difference in the outcome of today's game.

I tried not to get too disappointed when the Mets kept leaving runners on base.  I started to tell myself that there will not be a bottom of the ninth in this game.  That one worked.  And when David was at bat in the eighth I told myself he would get his first career hit off of Broxton.  That also worked.  So today I guess you could say thinking positive was a good idea.

It was funny when they showed somebody taking a baseball apart and then they showed that is was Ollie.  Perez put the ball in his mouth to try to get it to work better.  John Maine was sitting next to him and gave Ollie a look that said Okay, I don't think you know where that has been.  It was really funny!

Johan is pitching tomorrow night and the game will be on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Let's Go Mets!

Also, Robinson Cancel is catching for the Zephyrs tonight and Mike caught the last game.  Mike also pinch-ran for Gustavo Molina in the second game of the double header the other day.  If anybody has any updates on the reason Molina hasn't played recently I would really appreciate it.

Happy Birthday Jake!

(This post doesn't count for the "lyric titles" because it is for a special birthday)

Jake turns 27 today! Happy Birthday Jake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

"I'll do whatever it takes to turn this around"

More Lifehouse.

Update 9:00 AM- There is a giant wild turkey in my backyard and I am kinda scared.

Being at the game kinda stunk. A bunch of bad things happened and I have so many bad things to say about Aa*** Hei**** that I will not even fully spell out his name anymore.
  • My sister was rooting for the Dodgers because of Scott Proctor who didn't even pitch
  • When we got to out seats my sister pushed me (I am not sure if it was on purpose) and my knee banged into a seat and I scraped myself
  • The Mets lost
  • Aa*** Hei**** got the loss
On a brighter note, I got a really cute little teddy bear with a t-shirt that has the Shea "then and now" logo on it and orange sleeves.

Also Mike Nickeas caught in the Zephyrs loss but that turns to bad news because he went 0-for-3.

The Pirates lost and so did the Royals and Alex Gordon. But that turns to a happy note parce que (it's French for because) Grady Sizemore hit 2 homers to beat the Royals.

It is always good to end on a happy note.

Mikey P. in the house!

"Feeling Alive All Over Again"

Just a shout out to Lifehouse.

The Zephyrs played 2 yesterday and my "boyfriend" played in both of them. In the first game Mike wen 1-for-2 with a walk and he is batting .239. In the second game he was a pinch runner. The Zephyrs lost both games to Round Rock.

The Mets won again last night and David hit 2 homers and he OWNS Brad Penny. This is pretty funny but I will never think he is old. The Mets are finally figuring out how to play baseball again. I am getting excited.

I am going to the game tonight and I want to see some of batting practice so hopefully I will.

Jon Peter Lewis - A Little Less Conversation Encore

I think he is cute and he was my first "real" crush!

"Viva La Vida"

I know that song because of my art teacher that plays it everyday during class and I really like it.

I also really like the fact that the Mets have a winning streak of 2 games and last night reminded me somewhat of 2006. They came back and never seemed to give up the fight. I was ready to give up and prepare to write about Poo Poo Perez but there was no need to. The Mets have saved his name by bringing his last 2 starts to extras and he has remained Ollie. Tatis has been big for the Mets and it is always entertaining to watch an infielder play in the outfield. But I shouldn't laugh too much because I look pretty pathetic when I am not playing 1st or 2nd base. ESPECIALLY in the outfield! The bullpen stepped up big time and Duaner fought back after being knocked down by a pitch and got the bunt down. And as much as I enjoy finding negative things to say about Aaron Heilman today there really is nothing bad to say. He pitched 2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and we can only hope he can keep pitching well. We can also hope the Mets continue to play well and continue to win.

Tonight against the Dodgers!
Let's Go Mets!

And because my "boyfriend" plays on the Zephyrs and my art teacher plays the song that I like I will link to the video of The Zephyr Song.

And I also have a few links:
One is about Mike Pelfrey
One is about Michael Cuddyer
and one is about a lot of people but David and Alex are mentioned in the 3B part and Grady in the outfield part. YAY!

"Cause He's Grady"

YES!  That IS a song!
And THIS is a good article about him!

Let's Go Grady!

I really like that picture of him.

"You're The One That I Want"

do i really need to say anything?

"I Want It That Way"

If you don't know that song then I am sorry but you obviously were living under a rock in the 90s.  I have decided to listen to Backstreet Boys until the Mets string some wins together and the post titles with song lyrics will continue for the same amount of time.  I woke this morning and it didn't feel different than it did after the Mets had lost but that is probably because I woke up and remembered I had to go to school and that disappointed me.  I am glad the Mets won but it doesn't change anything unless they put more than 1 win together.  I hope good Ollie is at Shea today.

I am going to the game on Friday so I will take pics and I might actually post some of them.  I also plan on making a poster that says 'Mike Pelfrey's #1 fan' or something along those lines and I want to get some autographs if I can.

"Seven Days And Seven Nights Of Empty Tries"

I actually seems like a lot longer than that for the Mets. The song is "Something That I Already Know" by the Backstreet Boys. I like listening to the Backstreet Boys, even if it is some of their new music. The video in the link has good pictures of them and they bring back good memories.

Now, about the Mets:
I thought Willie would keep his job for now. I think the Wilpons should privately set a goal for Randolph to win a certain amount of games in a certain period of time and if he doesn't come through that's it. They cannot have a long leash for him and I believe they eventually will do the right thing. But they end up taking too long to make the right decision. I have confidence in the Wilpons, it is Omar and Willie that I don't have confidence in. Omar seems to have used all of his magic quickly and I don't see him making any more big moves. Willie had success early and when you get that good there is more bad that can come than good. The winning percentage of The Mets went up for a while and then they got to their peak and Willie couldn't hold it there.

The Mets need to make a move and do it soon.

Speaking of moves: According to Adam Rubin Carlos Muniz is coming to Shea but it is not known who for. Matt Wise may be hurting or my prayers could be answered and Aaron Heilman is going away.

Let's Go Mets!

P.S.
I have subjected myself to Backstreet Boys music again until the Mets win a game.

"Pictures Of You"

The song is Pictures of You by somebody (edit: it is by The Last Goodnight, thank you mandachan). I don't feel like finding the link so you can do that by yourself. I just wanted to post a pic of my "boyfriend"
I would write a caption if I wasn't so distracted by his hotness...

"Our Destiny Is Right Here In Out Hands"

Kinda lame but the song is Push it to the limit by Corbin Bleu.  And if you can't figure out why the font is in blue just read the sentence again.

Yesterday my "boyfriend" went 0-for-3 with a walk 2 strikeouts and a run scored.  His batting average dropped to .231, which, considering how the Mets are currently playing, seems pretty respectable.  The Zephyrs won 4-2 over Albuquerque.  YAY!

Willie is meeting with the Wilpons and Omar will be there as well so we will see what happens with that.

Let's Go Mets!

Big Pelf is going tonight!
Ya Gotta Believe!

P.S.
I like the part of a post from Surfing the Mets:
Evans, a novice outfielder who also was unfamiliar with the Rockies batters, credited Carlos Beltran for helping his positioning. With the team having a sport coat requirement for travel, Evans bought one in Denver and figures he’ll just rotate various color T-shirts underneath to give different looks.

"I'm Not Crazy, I'm Just A Little Unwell"

Unwell by Matchbox 20.

The lost so I maybe crazy and a little unwell.  I am hoping they will play better at home tomorrow.

Let's Go Mets!

"Did You Make It To The Milky Way?"

"Drops of Jupiter" by Train.

I was VERY happy with the win yesterday.  The Mets had everything working for the first time in a week.  I don't want to say too much and have it all go bad today so if things work out today I will post more later.

I have two articles:
1) This one I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY and even more REALLYS enjoyed reading.  It is about Xavier and I it is VERY interesting.  I didn't know he had 2 older sisters!  It's something we have in common because my little brother has 2 older sisters!

2) This one is okay.  There are a couple of "boyfriend" mentions but it is mostly about Gustavo Molina.

John Maine is pitching for the Mets today @ 3:05.

Let's Go Mets!

P.S.
Nick Evans is kinda cute!

Also!  Sid the Kid and the Pens lost game 1 to the Flyers, sadly.  But you can read about him in this link.

"My hands and knees are bruised and I'm crawling back to you"

Again, the song is by the Backstreet Boys and I will continue to listen to the Backstreet Boys until the Mets win.  The son is "Crawling Back To You".

The Mets lineup for today is:
SS Reyes
2B Castillo
3B Wright
CF Beltran
RF Tatis
1B Delgado
C Castro
LF Evans
RHP Vargas

Nick Evans is making his Major League debut today and Ryan Church is still out of the lineup.

Let's Go Mets!

"If I Lose It All, There'll Be Nothing Left To Lose And I Can Take The Fall"

The song is "Lose It All" by the Backstreet Boys.

Right now I feel like the Mets have lost it all.  It so far that when my dad was leaving to go somewhere this morning I told him I expect the Mets to lose now.  If they win it will be a happy surprise.  Last night's loss didn't cost Ollie his name because he kept the Mets in the game and he eventually didn't factor into the decision.  It has basically just been really frustrating and the Mets lost another player last night.  Marlon Anderson injured his hamstring.  The Mets are apparently going to call up Nick Evans.  I haven't heard much about him and don't expect much from him.

The Mets are playing on FOX at 3:55 today.

American Idol 7 - Drew Poppelreiter

He is really cute!

Michael Johns - Mornings With Kerri-Anne

Again! The accent!

AI 7 Finale - Top 6 Guys With Bryan Adams - Summer of 69

Michael Johns is AWESOME!

I love his accent when he is announcing the Davids!

"We Were As One Babe, For A Moment In Time"

...By that I am not quoting the Mariah Carry (UGH!) version but I am listening to David Cook's version from American Idol.

That is all I am writing and if you can't figure out the reason you obviously don't know much about the Mets.

YAY!

I mean "Yeah!" You know... By Usher!

Mike Nickeas caught for the Zephyrs today! Although they didn't win, me "boyfriend" went 2-for-4 with a double, single, and strikeout. He is hitting .242 now and I can tell he is improving.

Let's Go Mike!

"Shut up Shut up Shut up...

...Don't wanna hear it!"
If you don't know what that song is then I don't know you.

The only this I want to hear is him singing!

"It's Better That We Break"

I would post something about Mike Piazza's retirement but I really am not in the mood for talking about that.  I am also not in the mood to read more than what I have read on MetsBlog about Ryan Church.  If I do I will probably cry.  One reason is because he has become one of my favorites and the other, because the Mets are even more pathetic without him.  It seems that whoever I like to root for gets injured.  At least if they play right field.  This brings up a reason for the Mets to get Xavier back.  I doubt they will get him back.  I read that the Mets are looking to trade Aaron Heilman, but not even the Pirates would take him.  I wish I could play right field for the Mets.  I feel like the Mets aren't trying to win.  I wish I could help Ryan heal faster.  But the truth is, there is nothing I can do.
I am too depressed to say anything else.
Oh yeah, My "boyfriend" hasn't played in a while.  The Zephyrs haven't won in a while.  It cheers me up a little knowing they don't win when he isn't playing.  I wonder what would happen if he did play!
Let's Go Mets!

P.S.
and Mike Pelfrey is pitching tonight so that also cheers me up.

Let's Go Mets!

"Be careful what you wish for, history starts now"

I know, I am boring and uncreative (is that a word?) but the song is World by Five For Fighting and I really like it.  I have decided I will not make up my own title until the Mets start to play consistently.  And by that I mean play consistently WELL.  At some point the song lyrics will get so boring the Mets will have to save the readers of this blog and so they will start to play the way we know they are able to.

About the game: John Maine didn't have his best stuff today and I am starting to think he just doesn't pitch well against the Braves.  It happens and I am not going to get mad at him because he has pitched well this year.  I didn't expect the bats to wake up because I think the off day killed the momentum from the two wins over the Yankees.  Tom Glavine really bothers me.  I saw his last inning when I got home from school and I feel like he didn't want to win the last game of the season last year because he didn't want a reason to come back to the Mets.  It is hard to believe he ever was a Met.  I am relieved the Mets have the game later because they can come back and play well and score some runs.  Claudio Vargas is pitching and let's hope he pitches like he did last time.  (Only this time I don't want Willie to pull him when he could give the Mets at least one more solid inning).  And, BTW, I refuse to talk about Aaron Heilman anymore.

Kudos to Jon Lester on no-hitting the Royals last night.  If my computer and internet were working properly I could have watched.  But it was probably better for Jon that I didn't watch. =)

B*witched - C'est la vie

The sad thing is I was thinking of happy songs to listen to and this was all I could think of.

Got any suggestions?

"So why don't you slide?"

He is really cute!

There I go again. That is my absolute favorite song so you should listen to it.

I really am posting because I finished my homework and have nothing better to do. I also found this really good article about Ryan Church. Just read it and you will know what I am talking about.

BTW, tomorrow John Maine is pitching in the first game against none other than Tom Glavine and Claudio Vargas is going in the second game against somebody.

Let's Go Mets!

This One Deserves A Real Title

I guess that means I have to think of a title.  Oh well, too late.  Last night's game was pure fun!  Oliver Perez pitched as well as I have ever seen.  He earned his name back!  The bullpen got plenty of rest in the last three days and they also have today off so they should be fresh for whatever they need in the doubleheader tomorrow.  The Mets hitting didn't slow down and there should have been more runs with Carlos Delgado's home run that wasn't.  I am not going to rant about that for two reasons.  One is that the Mets won by a large margin anyway and the other is because there has been enough rants about it.

I will say I am torn on the instant-replay in baseball.  Part of me wants the calls to be accurate and the game to be fair.  The other part of me wants baseball to be like it has always been and I don't want it as "modernized" as football with people in the booth telling the manager if he should argue or not.  I also know that  at some point a missed call will determine an important game and then who knows what will happen.  But for now, I can say I am mostly against it.

Back to the game.  I am getting the feeling the Mets need something to feed off of for the energy the fans are looking for.  If it is a controversy in the clubhouse like what just happened or the media making a huge statement it doesn't matter.  The Mets really seem to come together when they need to and fall apart right after that.  The energy hasn't lasted long enough and I think the team meeting really jolted the energy.  The Mets need something to drive them or they get in big trouble.

Just wanted to get my two cents out there.  I like what I saw and I want to see more of it as the season progresses.

Let's Go Mets!

Ryan Church...

...is awesome.  At the beginning of spring training I didn't really have any feelings about him, good bad or otherwise.  Now, I really like him.  It isn't only because he has been the Mets MVP so far, there is just something about him that I really enjoy.  He always seems like he is trying and I feel bad when the team isn't playing well because he came here and he expects to win.

Anyways, this is a really good interview with him and I am going to watch the video once I finish typing this.

"Next thing you know shawty got low low low low low low low"

OH YEAH! That is what my dad txted me after the game ended. I was txting with him for a while because he was at a bar mitzvah in Pennsylvania with my mom. I enjoyed watching this game. What made it enjoyable was the win. What made it doubly enjoyable is the fact that my brother and sister are Yankee fans. I really want to enjoy this win but I also want to be able to enjoy a series win which would also mean a short weekend sweep. John Maine (i think) EDIT: Poo Perez is pitching tomorrow so it is prime time for him to earn his name back. You can save what I said about John Maine for his start against the Braves. is pitching tomorrow night and the Mets have won with him on the mound so I think there is a good shot at the Mets taking both of the games from the Yankees. I have confidence that will happen. The boxscore is here so you can think of your own game summary.

I have a question:
What would you do if you were Josh Fogg?

Let's Go Mets!

"It's Not My Time"

It's a good song.  Check it out.

Again, I am too boring to figure out a real title for the post.  Last night was a bummer.  I guess I will go whenever the game is made up.  I haven't figured out when that is though.

Johan is going today against Andy Pettitte.  I have a story about Rasner who was supposed to start last night that I will tell you later.

"And the shadow of the day will embrace the world in gray"

I am currently listening to that song and I can't think of a name for this post. The weather looks like it will clear up so my dad is planning on leaving soon. I don't really want to get to the game that early because the weather sucks. I am glad I am going though. I have been to Yankee Stadium more than Shea this year but this time it's a Mets game so that is good.

Johan is going tonight!

I Could Punch a Brick Wall...

...but I won't because we all know where that gets you. Mike Pelfrey pitched the best game of his LIFETIME and still gets the loss! I feel like I care more than the team. Mike Pelfrey was out there to win and he did what he had to but the Mets looked like they didn't want to play. I am getting so sick of how they are playing and if I even see Heilman up in the BULLPEN again during a close game I am not sure what I will do. There cannot be more of letting Heilman pitch through his struggles because it cost the Mets the game last night and will continue to cost the Mets more games. Jose Reyes looks like he isn't thinking when he is on base and sometimes when he is in the field and today he jogs to 2nd base and sprints to 3rd because he thinks he can succeed while giving half the effort. He has started to understand that he has to get on base. But when he does get on base he has to STAY on base! He always finds some way to get out on the basepaths. I hate to say it, but, David hasn't looked like David for the past couple of weeks and Ryan Church has had a rough 2 or 3 days. The bullpen is giving up too many runs and it is making the rest of the pitching staff look bad. Not many people I know look at the boxscore to see how the starter did. They just assume the starter gave up the runs and that makes me mad beyond belief. The Mets starting pitching has had rough spots but overall I have been pretty confident about it. The bullpen gives up runs and make losses like yesterday's look worse than the 2 runs Claudio Vargas gave up. According to this MetsBlog poll, Joe Smith is the most trusted reliever and that is scary. Heilman has underperformed and saying that is an understatement. Sanchez has not lived up to expectations and Wise has barely pitched, although he had a good outing today. Scott Schoeneweis has been an anchor in the bullpen and last year people were calling for his head! Pedro Feliciano has had his quiet success. It is scary when I think the 2 relievers I would trust the most right now are Joe Smith and Scott Schoeneweis.

I will be at the game tomorrow night and the Mets better have some life!

David Cook Rocks My Sox!

Today before gym I was arguing with one of my friends about the 2 David's on American Idol.  I like David C. more and she likes David A.  Just to give David Cook a step up I posted that.

The Mets won last night but I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't studying for a Romeo and Juliet test while watching.  I don't think my grade suffered because the test was pretty easy.  I am glad the Mets won again and I really trust John Maine when he is on the mound.  I also trust Ryan Church to do just about anything.  He has been the Mets best hitter and plays nicely in right field. Did I mention he has a rocket for an arm?  He will never be like David, Grady, Xavier, Mike, Joe, or (now) Alex, but I think he is cute!

My "boyfriend" went 2-for-4 in the Zephyrs' 4-3 loss to Sacramento.  He got 2 singles and is now batting .228.  He really has play well so the Mets can call him up the next time Ramon Castro goes down.  Yes, I know he will get injured again.

The Mets would really benefit with another pretty face on the team...

Claudio Vargas it is your turn.  Show us what you got!

Boo-Yah!

Joe Smith is staying!

-DFA: Jorge Sosa, Nelson Figueroa.

-On DL: Angel Pagan.

-Off DL: Matt Wise.

-Add: Claudio Vargas (will start tomorrow) and Fernando Tatis

From LoHud Mets Blog

The Mets are staying with Joe!

I say he has the best smile in the Bigs!

Prank call LIVE on Sportscenter

LOL!

"More Hips"

He should be on Dancing With The Stars!

Clap Clap! Clap Clap Clap!

The Nationals reminded me of the softball teams I play on last night.  Why would a bunch of grown men do that?  Nelson was asking the same question last night.  Last night was a game to forget because the Mets sucked in every way.  Except for Joe Smith when he pitched a scoreless inning in relief.  I have read in multiple places he is likely to stay so, YAY!

I don't really have anything else to say.

I Can Only Say One Thing...

Well, I can actually say more than one thing but I am so tired from running the mile.  Yes, this time I ran most of it.  So I will see how much I want to post.  Mike caught in the Zephyrs' 10-inning loss to Sacramento.  He went 0-for-3 with a walk and he is batting .208.  I am glad he is getting some playing time with Molina back.  I finally found an interview with him and it is on this page.  If you haven't been paying attention, his name is Mike Nickeas.  It is almost a month old but I don't care!

I love you!

Poo Poo Perez pitched well yesterday so know it is just Poo Perez and he can fix that by continuing to pitch well.  It looks like the Mets will be playing tonight even though rain was in the forecast nothing has happened.

Alex Gordon had a hit and RBI in the gem pitched by ex-Met Brian Bannister and the Royals won 4-0.  The Pirates won the first game of their doubleheader with the Braves but Xavier sat out because of a sore groin.  Ouch!  The Indians are also playing a doubleheader but their games haven't started yet.  They are against the Blue Jays.

Sid the Kid and the Penguins beat the Phlyers.  Whoops, Flyers.  They have a 2-0 lead in the series.

I like this article about Mike Pelfrey.  Then again, I like all positive articles about Mike Pelfrey.

"Who Can Take A Sunrise?..."

In this article if you scroll down to the part about the Candyman you will see this:

The Candyman

A large, open box of candy always sits on the floor next to Xavier Nady's locker in the clubhouse at PNC Park. Are Skittles the secret of Nady's success at the plate this season?

"No," Nady said, laughing. "I'm just the guy who brings in all the candy for everyone. I mix it up every week."

Xavier truly seems to be a favorite in that clubhouse and I am very happy about that! The Pirates won last night so that was good, especially because they beat the Braves.

Grady hit 2 homers yesterday and that helped Cleveland beat Toronto. Alex Gordon went 1-for-5 in Royals' loss to the Orioles. Mike Nickeas didn't play because Gustavo Molina is getting all of the playing time. UGH!

The Mets won 1/2 of the games they played yesterday and in the night game Mike Pelfrey only gave up 2 runs and he kept the Mets in the game. He also pitched without his mouth guard. I know I said I would have a post about the games but I am too lazy for that. Johan pitched well in the first game even though he gave up ten hits. You can do that when your team scores 12 runs in the game. The Mets kept getting hits with runners on during the first game, with David looking like he was finally getting out of his slump, and in the second game they could barely get hits. Oh well, the Mets will win the game today for their moms!

Happy Mother's Day!

They Should Do This More Often!

I will write about the Mets later so I can do one big post about both games. This post about David Cook.

Last night he threw the first pitch in the Royals game against Baltimore. He also sang "Take Me Out To the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch. Ya know what else happened in this game? Alex Gordon hit a homer. If the Royals have Cook throw the first pitch at every game Alex Gordon will want all of his fans back so he will continue to hit home runs. That would be so much fun to see!

That is my reason to vote for David Cook on Idol.

Let's Go Mets!

He's a "model"

It Was Too Good To Be True

Just look.

We will miss you Joe!

Let's Play Two!

It was absolutely POURING last night so the Mets game was rained out.  Today there is a day-night double header.  Johan is pitching the first game that starts at 1:10.  Mikey P. will pitch the second game starting at 7:40.  I am hoping Brian Schneider catches for Pelfrey because Mike is CLEARLY better with Brian catching him.  With Brian he is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA and without him he is 0-2 with a 8.34 ERA.  Ramon Castro is back with the team so he could catch for Johan because I think both of them (Johan and Ramon) are more capable of making the necessary adjustments than Mike Pelfrey is.  Willie doesn't believe in personal catchers but this could change his mind.  The size of the difference is so big that Pelfrey really needs Schneider to have a chance to win.  So there is a long day of baseball in front of us.

what?

...welcome back, hippo?...

"The Boy Who Saved Baseball"

...In Pittsburgh at least.  Xavier has always been a favorite of mine and not many other people have taken the time to write about him.  I have an Email alert for Xavier Nady and most of the time I just get game summaries and box scores.  Today I got this.  I don't care if this person only took five minutes to write this because it is a very good story and Xavier deserves more recognition.  In the early season Nate McLouth has gotten the "props" from anybody that is trying to find something positive about the bottom feeding Pirates.  I have nothing against Nate McLouth but I would appreciate it if Xavier got some kind words from the media as well.  Xavier has been known to have fast starts and slow down as the season progresses.  He also has been injury prone and that has caused him to never play a full season.  Last year he had perhaps his best year yet and this year he doesn't look like he is slowing down.  I hope he keeps going and gets the attention he deserves.

That is code for "this post doesn't have a title"

I just wanted to post that pic 'cuz I think Johnny looks really cute in it!

I Have Been Saved!!!

I didn't run the mile today because only half the people ran and I was one of the people that didn't so I get to wait until Monday.
Today is John(ny) (Tre)Maine's birthday today and so Happy 27th B-day JOHN!!!!!  And for his birthday I have a nice quote from him:
“I’ve got a batting average, and Pelfrey doesn’t.  That’s the only thing that matters (laughing).”

That was after yesterday's game when he was talking about his hitting.
And former Met Carlos Gomez hit for the cycle yesterday.  The bad part is that it was against Mark Buehrle and I REALLY like him!
I don't have anything else to say.  So...

Lookin' Good!

Last night Mike Nickeas went 1-for-3 with a walk and is no batting .220 in the win by Fresno 3-2 over the Zephyrs.  They haven't won in who knows how long.  I am not sure if I should  say the Mets lost last night or this morning but they lost none the less.  I forgave them for that when they scored enough runs to have won all three games today and John Maine pitched like there was not tomorrow.  To add to that, Angel Pagan made an absolutely AMAZING UNBELIEVABLE catch falling into the stands in the first inning today.  The Mets finally were able to get hits with runners in scoring position and even John Maine had 2 RBI.  Maybe he will start to hit like Micah Owings?  I know... I'm dreaming.

But it has been a pretty good day for me except for the fact that I have been sore because yesterday (Brian Schneider inspired me a little too much) I decided to spend the entire 45 minutes of gym class being the catcher for softball.  I did this because the bat they have is the size of the one I used in first grade.  I cannot put into words how much respect I have for professional catchers that do that everyday.  And to add to that I have to run the mile tomorrow.  You see, the last time I said I ran the mile it was only the practice mile.
I was also at the Indians @ Yankees game yesterday and got a TON of pics of Grady and Kyle Farnsworth.  The pics of Kyle are for somebody I know.  My dad took the train in from Phillie so my mom dropped me off at the the game with my brother and sister and we met my dad there.  We stayed until Grady's last at-bat and then had to go to the car that was coming to bring us home.
Interesting thing that happened: When we went down to the loge to see Grady's last at-bat I sat down with my sis and bro.  As we were getting up after he walked a Yankee fan sitting behind me said that, "I lost" because I was wearing my Sizemore jersey and they were behind 3-2 at that point.  Later in the inning there was a pinch hit 3-run homer that ended up winning it for the Indians.  I wonder what the guy was thinking then.
Also: There were the most visiting team fans I have seen at the game expect for games between rival teams.  Most were women wearing Grady Sizemore jerseys.

The Mets have the day off and then Mike Pelfrey will finally pitch with Brian behind the plate against the Reds.

Well, It Is In The Title

Since this blog is called Mr. Mets is My Brother I figured I should post this. I found this on MetsBlog and thought it was amusing.  It reminds me of 2 things.  One is that Sunny D commercial and at the end it always goes "unleash the power of the sun".  The other thing it reminded me of was the show Rocket Power from Nickelodien.  It just seems like something they would do on that show.

So...LOL!

Let's Go Mr. Met!

U-G-L-Y!

Last night was another ugly game from Poo Poo Perez.  So instead of going on a rant I will post something amusing.  I have become a fan of Nate McLouth.  Don't make fun of me!  I know he is on the Pirates so he can't be very goo but this year he has been doing very well.  I also think he is a little cute, but that is just me.  It probably REALLY is JUST me!  So here!

Backstreet Boys Shape of My Heart With Lyrics

How long has it been since I have listened this? I can't believe how well I know some of the songs when they are from when I was 4 years old!

Well At Least...

baseball doesn't have players being arrested for boating drunk. But, baseball has these other things. I cannot believe what is going on. I mean I expected Ozzie Guillen to explode at some point but I didn't think it would be this early in the season. I also know the Red Sox and Yankees have a fierce rivalry. For it to go this far is truly astounding! Wait... did I just use the word ASTOUNDING! It really is bad. I cannot believe how low some people have sunk.

The game isn't until 10:10 New York/eastern time. UGH!
Let's Go Mets!

You Need To Be The One!

I'll be the one
Who will make all your sorrows undone
I'll be the light
When you feel like there's nowhere to run
I'll be the one...

Ollie, tonight you have to be the ONE!  I don't care about anything anybody says.  Forget about your last start.  Don't think about the fact that I called you Poo Poo.  Go out there and show the Dodgers what you really can do.  Give the Mets something to believe in.  We all know Johan and John have what it takes to win.  Now you have to show us that you can be a part of that group.  We are all rooting for you!  Let's Go OLLIE!

That was my pep talk for Ollie if he ever happens to read it.  Now for the real stuff.  Nice win by the Mets even though Joe Smith had a rough outing.  I know he will be okay.  Mike Nickeas went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the Zephyrs' 9-5 loss to Portland.  I hope they start winning soon.  Xavier Nady and the Pirates were swept by the Nats.  Pathetic!  Alex Gordon and the Royals swept Grady Sizemore and the Indians in a rain-shortened two game series.  I am going to the Indians @ Yankees game tomorrow and hopefully I will get some good pics of Grady!

You Could Learn a Lesson

Mr. Bale is teaching us something here.  Now I don't mean to sound harsh but, WHY WOULD ANYBODY IN THE RIGHT MIND DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!  He obviously has no intentions of coming off the DL any time soon.  Maybe he was too scared he wouldn't do well when he came back and he wanted to "bail" out of pitching duties.  (Ha ha, okay I know that was lame!)  Who knows?!

I am not in the mood to write a game summary but it was nice to see (or read off of my phone) the Mets do well.  They won 2 of 3 and they have some momentum going into the series with the Dodgers.  It just so happens that the Dodgers lost for the first time in 8 games today so hopefully the Mets can give them a losing streak!

Let's Go Mets!

This Is Cool

Senator/presidential candidate John McCain is at the game today.  I find it cool.

HE IS BACK!

YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!  I think that is enough for now!  But guess what!  Brian Schneider is back in the lineup!  That just made my day!

The Mets finally have their Opening Day lineup!

Keep it positive!
Let's Go Mets!

Keep It Positive!

Keep it positive
As you slap her to the floor
Keep it positive
As you pull her hair and call her whore

The Mets need some inspiration so I am using Legally Blonde: the Musical to give it to them!  Mike Pelfrey was not on his game last night.  I didn't think he would be without Brian behind the plate. Schneider can't get back into the lineup soon enough.  At least the Mets were still in the game when Mike was pitching.  Sanchez gave up 5 runs in the eighth and that slammed the door on the Mets. If the Mets can win today I will forget about the ugly loss and they could really use the momentum going into a series with the blazing Dodgers. I like the sound of that!  Blazing Dodgers!  Now I want to see some blazing M-E-T-S METS METS METS!

On the hottie front:  Jake Peavy and the Padres won against the Marlins last night.  Alex Gordon and the Royals won against Grady Sizemore, who hit a home run, and the Indians.  I'm not sure what I should make of that.

Finally!

First, I REALLY like this article about David.  I find every letter of it perfect and David is just amazing!

Last night was the first time the Mets have played with Moises Alou this season and I am finally starting to see things come together for the Mets.  Once Brian Schneider returns to the lineup the Mets will have their projected opening day lineup.  I know this will come in May but it is better than never having.  During the game last night people continued to comment on how Moises Alou could wake up on New Year's Day and hit line drives.

One thing I would like to see the Mets do is make a move for somebody that can backup first base for Delgado and they should be right handed so they could possibly platoon with Delgado.  Xavier Nady fits this and he is having a very good start to the season.  Everybody is saying the Pirates are going to ask for too much but I don't think that is true.  I know the Pirates are building for the future and that makes it easier for them to trade Xavier.  While I do not have any ideas about who the Mets could trade right now, I have confidence that they could get this deal done.  I almost feel like this trade is so easy people are not seeing potential of it.

Just wanted to get that out there.
Let's Go Mets!

A Win And A Loss

VERY nice win by the Mets last night but I didn't stay up to watch it.  I missed David's homer and Joe's scoreless inning.  When Jose Reyes does well the Mets do well and Jose was a homer away from the cycle and David was a triple away from the cycle.  I feel like the Mets don't know how to lose in Arizona.  The loss was the because the Zephyrs lost 6-4 to Portland.  Mike Nickeas went 1-for-4 with 1 run and a double.  I am hoping his rising .227 average will get him playing time even though Gustavo (I love saying that) Molina is back.  He has been doing pretty well and I remember that when Molina was in New Orleans he got most of the playing time over Nickeas and Wooten.

The Mets are on FOX today so be sure to watch!  Mikey P. against Brandon Webb.

LOL!

I just found this video and crack up whenever I watch it.  I love the part when Xavier says he is going to be serious for the camera and that obviously doesn't happen.  I would so buy this if I could.  The Pirates should make a commercial out of this!  So many people would buy it!

Just about an hour until game time!
Let's Go Mets!

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz...

I just ran (walked) the mile so I hope I don't fall asleep while writing this.  The Mets didn't play so I only have a boyfriend update.  Last night the Zephyrs lost 3-2 to Tacoma (still?) and Mike went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.  He is now batting .225.  I would write more but I think I am going to fall asleepp.  Wait... I just spelled sleep with 2 p's.

I gotta go!

How Did I Miss This?

According to this kind-of old article from before spring training Mikey P. is engaged. I don't know how I missed that. Oh well. I still think he is cute!

Let's Go Mets!

It Is Getting Hard...

To find a reason not to love Mike Pelfrey. I just found this article which is mostly about John Maine but it mentions that Mikey plays chess with him. I have not figured out how to play chess and whenever I try it hurts my brain. I like to read about what players are doing off the field without getting too personal and within the week this is the second thing I have found. This is the first that I found:
I thought Kyle Farnsworth might chain himself to the Big Buck Hunter Pro arcade game in the Cleveland visitors’ clubhouse and refuse to leave. Farnsworth, an avid hunter, was giddy the whole long weekend, right at home shooting deer and critters with a plastic rifle. He even ordered the machine for his home, for $5,000.

I know somebody that really likes Kyle and they found that and showed it to me and I think it is funny. Well since he can afford it I don't see why he can't have it.

That's it for now.
Let's Go Mets!

This Time I Mean It!

I was momentarily confused!  When I went to look at the boxscore of the Zephyrs' game I saw Mike Nickeas caught in the game.  Then I looked up and saw Wooten also caught in the game.  I know Mike could come in during the middle of the game.  But, then it says Mike didn't have any at-bats.  Usually if a player comes in they will have at least one at-bat.  I guess he came in too late to have an at-bat.  Anyways, the Zephyrs won 7-6 over Tacoma.  It seems like they are always playing them!

Off day for the Mets so nothing is really going on.

Let's Go Zephyrs!
...and Mets!
